Highlights at Johnny & Hanges include their legendary hot dogs, especially the All The Way Wiener, complete with an irresistible chili sauce touched with cinnamon. Customers rave about the fried Texas weiners, often describing them as a delightful trip down memory lane. The crispy fries and onion rings always stand out, perfectly complementing any meal. Guests also recommend indulging in a rich, creamy milkshake for dessert. The efficient service and vibrant atmosphere augment the dining experience, making each visit memorable.
Most Disliked
Some diners mention that the small size of the indoor seating can sometimes lead to cramped conditions, particularly during peak hours, especially on busy Fridays. Others note that the fast-paced environment might not suit those seeking a leisurely dining experience. A few reviews highlight that popular items can run out quickly, especially on weekends, so arriving early is wise. Lastly, there’s little variety for those outside the realm of classic fast food, as healthy options are minimal, making it less ideal for health-focused diners.

I heard a lot about this place and based off the reviews, I figured I’d give it a shot since I was in the area. Came in for a plain hot dog and chili cheese hotdog and plain/chili cheese fries. Smooth ordering system, friendly staff, and good food. The chili is seasoned with cinnamon which was different but actually delicious. My favorite part that made this place special was the 50s music they play in the background.

Johnny & Hanges is a go-to spot for some seriously good eats! Their backyard burgers and hot dogs are top-notch, and the milkshakes are absolutely amazing. The fries and onion rings are always crispy and delicious, and even their chicken parm hits the spot. If you’re looking for great food with a classic feel, I highly recommend checking them out!

Drove by and saw it’s been around since 1939, so it’s got to be good. Don’t disappoint, excellent service, clean, and the dogs were awesome!!! Will be back!

Legendary, iconic place… Deep fried Texas weiners with a fantastic meat sauce… Been going there since I was a child (started at the old Paterson location), I’m now 59… don’t live in the area anymore, unfortunately… but drove an hour and a half each way for lunch today. That should tell you all you need to know. A must try.

What a hidden gem. I’ve heard about johnnys for a bit but I finally took the time to stop by and I am glad. The staff were friendly and very patient with my question. Ended up a hot dog all the way, fries all the way and a mustard and kraut dog. Everything was excellent. I will definitely Be back again next time I’m in the area.

Was A very good hot dog cooked just the way I like it. The place itself is great. Plenty og seating surrounded by Hot Dog Nostalgia everywhere. Parking spots are a little tight, but it works. Visited as part of NJ National Hot Dog Day 2025. Would have liked to try some of their other hot dogs. Will save that for next visit, I will be back.

April 22, 202Johnny & Hanges has been about 50 years. There customers are mostly repeat customers, and word of mouth. His menu, is not that of a fast food place but much more. The employees are amazing, their other customers are friendly. Most of all everyone is respected and Courteous. It is not at all expensive, definitely less expensive that the faster food places. Larger variety. Johnny & Hanges Place is much cleaner than those fast food places. With nice murals on the walls that are very pleasant to look at. Serving size is large, prices are amazing . Handicapped parking, entrance, and it's own bathroom. Brave Johnny & Hages ! You nailed this. Come down, and give them a try.
